Redwood Alliance developed a weekend long workshops on how to implement solar electric power in your household a little bit at a time. Many people want to use solar technology but have been afraid of the high costs associated with unplugging from the grid all at once. For a much more modest cost, we can start small. Then, when we have extra resources we can add to the system a little at a time until we can finally are making all our own electricity with the sun

The high quality workshop was designed to teach you how to accomplish this dream. We enlisted the help of Solar Energy International, who has taught thousands of people how to determine energy system needs, design solar electric systems, and then install them. Here's what our workshop offered:

• An evening of solar electric basics with a slide show and pep talk for both workshop participants and the public
• A full day of instruction on the details of sizing, designing,and installing systems
• A second day of instruction with hands-on solar lab experience
• A third day of hands-on experience with installing a system on a nearby home
• A packet of materials and information that will help you with your own project

Each day built upon the previous day's information, except the first evening's public introduction.
